Request for Use Policy

Starting the first full week of classes for the academic year, requests can be submitted for the display spaces for any time during that academic year. If necessary, due to demand, a limit of two consecutive weeks per semester per college group or organization may be imposed by the Library.

Application forms for use of display/exhibit space are available both online and at the Reference Desk of the Library. The application form must be filled out completely . Telephone requests will not be considered until the application form is submitted. Applications for use of display space will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis.

Calendar of scheduled displays/exhibits will be maintained at the Reference Desk and online.

Las Positas College Library and the Library Coordinator will have the final decision on the content, arrangement, and scheduled dates of the display. Every item in an exhibit must meet Las Positas College’s standard of value and quality and must be acceptable to the LPC community. The Library reserves the right to reject any display.

Disagreement or challenges to the policy will be made to the Library Coordinator. If a satisfactory agreement can not be reached, the disagreement will be referred to the Dean of Arts and Communications.

Guidelines

Only LPC faculty, students and staff can request a display area. Students must be affiliated with an official LPC club. Advisor’s name and phone must also be listed on the request form.

  1. Library does not provide any supplies or staff assistance. Exhibitor is responsible for set up and removal.
  2. In case of an unforeseen college event or need that may occur, the display request may be superseded by another display request.
  3. Requests are dated and logged into the Display calendar on a first-come, first-served basis.
  4. Starting the first full week of classes for academic year, requests can be submitted for the display spaces for any time during that academic year.
  5. Displays must reflect a theme or topic that is related to the LPC curriculum, of college-wide interest, or of direct benefit to our students and the community. Final discretion is with the Library Coordinator.
  6. Any complaints or challenges to the policy will first be addressed to the Library Coordinator and then to the Dean of Arts and Communication.
  7. A display cannot be requested or left for longer than 30 days (defined by its "post" and "remove" dates). In the event that the display is not removed by the date stated in the request form, Library staff will remove the display to allow other requests to go on exhibit in a timely fashion. Library staff will not be held responsible for the condition of display materials that have been removed by and stored in the Library until picked up.
